PB2 Qualification Funding:

To apply for funding for your PB2 qualification—and become a Trainee Driver—you must meet all the criteria listed below. If eligible, your PB2 training may be subsidised by LSC.

Eligibility Requirements
  • have been a member of LSC for a minimum of 1 year
  • Be actively involved in club life, going beyond the minimum duty expectations
Examples include taking on extra duties or volunteering to cook on race nights
  • can prepare, launch and recover the SB, as detailed in SB1 Shore Based Preparation
  • have undertaken at least 4 crew duties
  • can demonstrate, to an LSC Instructor, that you have the driver skills detailed in Introduction to driving LSC's Powerboat.
  • agree to complete a minimum of 8 driver duties during dinghy racing:
    - ideally, these should be completed within 2 years from completion of your PB2.
    - if the race - when you are scheduled to undertake a duty - is cancelled, then the duty will still count as one of the eight.
  • LSC hopes that you will continue to drive our SBs for many years. It will give you the opportunity to keep your skills up to date, attend refresher driving and safety courses; as well as meet other members of the club.

Please note: As a Trainee Driver, you are not permitted to undertake driver duties unless accompanied by a qualified instructor at all times. A Buddy driver or Experienced driver is not qualified to accompany Trainee Drivers
