wish to be considered for LSC sponsorship for an RYA Powerboat Level 2 (PB2) qualification

meet the requirements for Funding for RYA PB2 Qualification
On completion of this session, you may be designated as a Trainee Driver.
Please note: As a Trainee Driver, you are not permitted to undertake driver duties unless accompanied at all times by an RYA‑qualified Powerboat Instructor.
Aim
A practical on-water session with an LSC qualified Power Boat Instructor in one of LSC’s Rigiflex SBs.
Pre-requisites
You should
- have previous experience of driving a boat with engines eg yacht, tender, powerboat
- have completed SB1 Shore Based Preparation
- be able to get a Poole Harbour weather forecast and tide times for the next 4 hours
- understand how wind, tide and sea state affect LSC’s sailing area
- have read LSCs Sailing Instructions
Boat handling Objectives
You will learn how to
- Raise and lower LSCs electric and manual engines
- Safely launch and recover the SB, following the Slipway Guidance Notes
- Use “KNIGHTS” for pre-start checks
- Trim the engine whilst manoeuvring in and out of the lagoon
- Follow the best practice of “One hand steer, one hand gear” when driving
- Drive ahead and in reverse at low speed
- Steer and control the SB at speed
- Maintain control in a variety of situations and conditions
